West Wing

After extensive refurbishment and redecoration this luxury self catering holiday accommodation offers ample space for families and groups of up to 8. Pets are welcome too.

The ground floor has a large, high ceiling drawing room with an open fire and big windows overlooking the front park.  A large TV with a selection of DVD’s and family games are available.  The dining room can seat up to 10 people comfortably and there are plenty of glasses and tableware for more.   This room also looks out across the landscaped park.  The newly fitted kitchen has a fridge/freezer, hob, oven and microwave with plenty of working space and a large kitchen table for breakfast.  There is also a  utility room, off the hall, with a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities and lots of extra space for wet coats and wellies.

Two separate staircases take you up to the first floor where there are  two master bedrooms both with superking beds and ensuite bathrooms and further down the corridor are two twin bedrooms which share a huge bathroom with a rolltop bath and a handheld shower (while lying in the bath you have the most wonderful view over fields and woods– but there is a blind should you wish to be more discreet).

All the beds are made up with fine cotton sheets and feather and duck down pillows and duvet covers with extra blankets should you need them.

Enough logs are provided for the week but should you require more we charge £15 for an extra load.

In the front of the house there is a terrace with a large table, BBQ, ample lawn, garden and uninterrupted views over the landscaped park.  (There is a shallow rectangular pond in front of the house and a sunk fence (a Ha Ha) with a 5ft drop so it is important to keep a close eye on small children.)

We have a truly wonderful working kitchen garden and on arrival you will be given a hamper of whatever fruit, vegetables and herbs are available and you are more than welcome to walk around the kitchen garden.  The tennis court is situated just 50m from the West Wing inside the walled garden and can be used throughout the year.
We encourage families to bring bicycles as we have an excellent drive for children’s biking and Northumberland has some of the best cycling routes (due to, I believe, fewer cars!)

There are woods to play in and Sir Edwards Lake is over 30 acres and has wonderful trout fishing from the boat.  Guests are most welcome to fish at extra cost but otherwise can simply enjoy a picnic or walk around the lake. Those interested in ornithology will enjoy watching a great range of wildfowl and marshland birds.

The West wing includes:

 Washing machine/dryer

Open fire

Fridge/ freezer
